Volunteering

Do you have a few hours each week to help the animals? Humane Society Calumet Area relies largely on volunteers for daily tasks whether it be animal care or clerical work. The volunteers create a support system that staff relies on.

How to Get Started

We are grateful and happy to have new volunteers join our family. The first step in becoming a volunteer at HSCA is to complete a volunteer application to help us match you with the volunteer opportunities you are most interested in. Click here to download an application >

The initial fee for volunteering is $25, which covers the cost of your volunteer shirt and start-up material.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have various volunteer opportunities:

Dog Walkers Keep the dogs healthy and happy by providing much-needed outside walks.

Shelter Specialist Help us keep the shelter clean and feed the animals.

Shelter Matchmaker Help guests find their new family member.

Bathers Get the animals ready for their new family with a bath on adoption day.

Special Events We have various events throughout the year, and we always need helping hands.

Foster Families Can you help care for our special needs pets? From babies to seniors, we always need loving homes to care for them while they get healthy. Check out our Foster Care Manual for more information on fostering.

Other Do you have a hobby or skill you would like to share with the animals? Volunteers have offered their mural painting skills, mechanical knowledge, design experience, and various other specialized knowledge to the shelter. You can probably use your unique talents or interests to help the animals.
